What should we do with the Civic Arena? Tear it down, or preserve it? The facility's future is being debated this week; a public hearing on a proposal to grant historic status to the arena is scheduled tomorrow. No matter what the outcome, the odd-looking dome structure is likely to change. So here are five final views of its interior. We started at the arena floor, then traveled up to the press box. Next was the mostly dismantled Penguins locker room, complete with images of the Stanley Cup on the wall, then the building's control room. Finally, we entered an office for food service workers, where we saw dozens of decals from past shows and events at the arena.
